Little Foxes: Charisma Is Easy - Character Must Be Cultivated.Sample
Let’s talk about foxes. Like – actual foxes. We will get to the metaphorical meaning soon.
Foxes are known as cunning, deceptive, clever animals. They use the cover of night to do their damage in darkness. They are small animals that can bring devastation to an entire vineyard.
Here’s where it gets interesting. Foxes eat the new and tender fruit, they dig holes which disrupt the health of the roots, and they can cause significant damage.
I’m sure the word picture in Song of Solomon is becoming clear to you.
I want you to imagine your life as a vineyard. You are the farmer, responsible for its cultivation and care. Every day you cultivate a field that is comprised of your relationships, finances, emotions, and work. The vineyard is literally the entirety of who you are.
What is the health of your vineyard?
Know this: the vineyard is vulnerable, and it is vulnerable to the little, often overlooked gaps that allow those pesky little foxes in.
For the most part, we make a colossal error when it comes to what hurts us in life. We assume it is the mega-storms, the catastrophes, the major crises. Yet, for the most part, what really destroys the vineyard of our lives are the little flaws in our character and integrity that we ignore and dismiss.
Here are 3 that often get the better of us:
- Little exceptions of character (attitude, inner world, heart issues).
- Little compromises of choices (lifestyle, morality).
- Little violations of ethics (cheating, lying, stealing).
It is the gaps in our character and integrity that bring damage into our homes, our minds, and our future.
Big Idea:
Little exceptions in character can bring catastrophic destruction.
Building character is not glamourous, but it is the fence around your vineyard that keeps the foxes at bay. It’s time to close the gaps and eradicate the foxes!
Today’s Crucial Question:
How many little foxes have you allowed into your character, integrity, morals, family, and thought life?
