Walking With God

DAY 3 OF 5

One of the most important things in any type of relationship is "transparency." This means being honest with the person with whom we have a friendship or a relationship.

We know it is very important to know more about God, but it is also very important that God knows more about us. Think about it this way: Imagine a marriage where the wife tells her most intimate secrets to the husband and does not hold anything back, but the husband does not tell all his secrets as he buries them inside himself. This is a dysfunctional relationship because only one person is being transparent and sincere with the other.

Unfortunately, we can fall into the same dynamic with God. He makes Himself known through His word and prayer, but He also wants us to pour out our hearts in His presence, experiencing full transparency and automatically drawing closer to Him as our Lord and Father. As we become transparent with God, He will also challenge us to establish transparency in our earthly relationships, which will only serve to further grow us closer to Him and one another.

Let us become people of integrity who live what they believe, people who have nothing to hide from God or from people. Then, it is at this moment that something powerful occurs: God begins to know us. God knows everything about the universe and about us, but He still wants us to take an active role in this process by involving Him in these deep thoughts of our hearts. He wants us to continually pour out our joys, struggles, and sins. That will foster a personal relationship with Him.
