Walking With Jesus Sample
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new in the Kingdom of God” (Mark 14:25).
What does this even mean?
The Lord’s Supper is something that we continue to remember as the people of God. In the church we recognize baptism and the Lord’s Supper (also called the holy Eucharist) to be sacraments that are ordained by Christ, celebrated often as a means of grace.
This is amazing - from the beginning of scripture until the end, we recognize God is with us. He not only created humanity, but He walks with us and paves the way for us to have a relationship with Him. It isn’t something we can work out on our own. Our faith comes through Him.
One of the difficult truths to wrestle with however is that Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried. But 3 days later he was resurrected to life and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. So where does that leave us in the story?
We live in freedom when we accept Jesus and His sacrifice for our sins. We REMEMBER His sacrifice every time we participate in the Lord’s Supper, as we eat the bread and drink the wine (or juice) as it represents Jesus’ broken body and shed blood on our behalf.
But we also recognize that Jesus is coming back. We have HOPE in this world because we know Jesus is coming back. We will get to participate in the marriage supper of the lamb where we will once and for all be with Jesus in Heaven. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
1 Corinthians 11:26 says, “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.” Have hope church! We have a mission here on earth to know Jesus and to make him known. We eagerly anticipate His return.
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 26:26-29,
Pray. Ask God to reveal to you His truths as you read His Word. Don’t skip this important step.
Read: As you read ask the “5 W’s and an H” questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Daily Challenge: Reflect on what the Lord’s Supper means to you. Take a few minutes to thank Jesus for paving the way for you to be in perfect standing with him, “in Christ”.
