Walking With Jesus Sample
On day 4 of prayer we can see Jesus disappointed in His disciples but points them to an important spiritual truth.
Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Jesus knew they wanted to stay awake and pray, but the weakness of their flesh overpowered their spiritual desire to watch and pray.
Have you ever been spiritually frustrated with someone? Why can’t this person do this or why aren't they doing that? I thought they were more spiritual?
The reality is we all struggle with the flesh but Jesus gives us the antidote to fighting the flesh. Watch and pray.
What does it mean to watch and pray? Spiritual watchfulness sees the temptation, sees the warning signs, and it prompts us to pray. Then we pray in confidence knowing whatever we ask in His name He will do. (John 14:13)
Proverbs 22:3 says “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty."
I challenge you to watch and pray, take refuge in the goodness of our God.
Today’s Scripture:Matthew 26:40-41
Pray: Jesus help me fight my flesh and pray to you even when I'm tempted or distracted.
Daily Challenge: Watch and pray for someone today. Maybe it will be someone who doesn't know the Lord or someone who is going through a difficult time.
