Dealing With FeelingSample
When I feel bad, God gives me peace.
Sometimes everyone feels BAD—guilty, remorseful, anxious, confused, ashamed, or embarrassed. Bad feelings are muddy, gooey, and are easy to get stuck in. Bad feelings can feel like quicksand and can pull us down and hold us back. We can get unstuck from the bad feelings by setting our minds on good things. This is very hard to do without God’s help. We can talk to Him about all of the things we’re feeling and He will give us His peace—a kind of peace that doesn’t make any sense.
Sometimes we get stuck just feeling bad about something that we’ve done. We may have even tried to say we were sorry, but we keep on feeling bad. God doesn’t want us to be stuck in regret. He can help us feel peace about the situation even when we can’t really do anything to fix it ourselves.
When you’ve done something that you feel bad about, the right thing to do is to repent and ask God to help you not do it anymore. Then, feeling bad will actually help you become a better person. Say this out loud, “When I feel bad, God gives me peace.”
Talk It Over: Which will help you to have God’s peace: thinking about your bad feelings or spending time with God?

About this Plan
What do I do when I feel mad, sad, bad, or glad? God made us with emotions. The Bible shows us God has emotions, too. Emotions aren’t bad, but they can often lead us to make sinful, selfish choices. Since emotions are common ground we share with God, they're a way we can get closer to Him and learn more about Him. This family plan with supporting videos can help kids learn what the Bible has to say about dealing with our feelings.
