Make Every Moment Count

When you look at your life in the frame of eternity, you see that you’re here on earth for a very short time. In that light, it is so important to make every moment count. It is also crucial to share Jesus with your friends and loved ones, to make sure they go to heaven for eternity as well.

If you’ve had a loved one die and you aren’t sure they were saved, take comfort in the fact that God is good. I believe He gives each person many chances to receive Him, right up to the very end. We don’t know what your loved one might have heard in his lifetime, what decisions he may have made, or what happened to him right before he left this earth. My spiritual father used to say, “We’re going to be surprised by who we find in heaven.” I believe that.

I like to think about heaven, perhaps because my husband is already there. But I don’t think about it so much that I’m not living my life to the fullest today. I’m not looking to escape or go to heaven a moment before I’ve finished my course, but I get excited thinking about the place. It is where you and I are headed, and it is going to be so great.

Because of the fall when sin entered the world, right now we live on an earth that has a curse. We were born here, and we simply have no idea what it’s like to live free from the curse. This dark condition feels normal because it’s all you’ve ever known. 

Thankfully, in our eternal home of heaven, there is no curse—no fear or sickness or death or sadness. Only light, life, and love permeate the entire atmosphere of heaven. Right now, we can’t even comprehend it. I think that when we get there, no matter how much we’ve heard about the place and how great we expect it to be, we’ll walk around for a millennium or so with our mouth hanging open because it is so wonderful! 

That’s why we want to make sure our loved ones come with us. That’s why Jesus told us in Mark 16:15 to Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to every person. Make every moment of your life on earth count by sharing the Good News of Jesus with everyone you know so that they, too, can spend eternity in heaven.
