Justice

DAY 28 OF 30

CRY FOR JUSTICE

When tragedy strikes, and prayer seems to make no difference, little seeds of doubt may grow and have us wondering if perhaps God is slow to help, or maybe doesn’t even care. We may feel totally vulnerable and bereft, like the widow in Jesus’ story. But she keeps crying out for justice. She wouldn’t be doing that if she had no hope.
Jesus urges us to be persistent in prayer, like the widow. We join our voices with all throughout the world who cry out, standing with them and refusing to be part of the injustice. In that way supportive community is built, where we refuse to tune out all that is wrong in the world, but try to be part of sustaining hope and trust in God, who listens to pray. None of us can near the pain of the world on our own, but we can support each other, refuse to be part of the hopelessness, keep crying out and working for justice and live in faith and hope.

Dear God,
We pray for fairness in this world. We ask you to give us the strength and courage to boldly stand for justice and uncover the corruption and injustice we come across in our everyday living. - Amen

'Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.' - Haile Selassie

About this Plan

Justice

My inspiration for this 30 days Devotional is from prolonged theological discourses on Justice. My burning desire is to see that the Church becomes catalyst to stop violence against the poor. I am also grateful to Organizations who work relentlessly to secure Justice for the poor.
