Good Grief I’m Healed: Hurt in the World, Healed by the WordSample
Think Upon These Things ~ And Be Transformed!
Learning to trust is hard work if it has been broken in a relationship, even if you have forgiven the one who hurt or betrayed your heart. We see realities in front and memories behind that constantly remind us to protect ourselves from letting “it” happen again. As Christ followers, we are to guard our hearts IN Christ Jesus, but we often guard our hearts FROM allowing Jesus to lead us in this redemptive and healing process. We must trust in Jesus as we learn to walk out forgiveness and as we allow trust to be built again with those we love.
Sixteen years into our marriage, I was confronted with the choice to forgive my repentant husband who had confessed unfaithfulness. Godly sorrow truly had produced real repentance, which led to his salvation and deliverance from that sexual sin, and it indeed left no regrets. It moved him from the path of death, to the path of life. My prayers had been answered, but I was left with trauma, great pain and deep grief from the knowledge the confession dumped on me.
By the power of the Holy Spirit working through me and enabling me to do what I could not do on my own, I chose to forgive but had to learn to trust again while putting my faith and hope in Christ to teach me and heal our marriage. That, He did! Our miraculous testimony is recorded in the book, “Good Grief I’m Healed,” and in the audio story, “Forgiveness, It’s A Choice,” a free resource available on my website.
A few weeks before experiencing another traumatic moment, the Holy Spirit prompted me to start journaling my prayers as Jesus had in mind a plan to heal my heart and my mind, though at the time, I had not yet experienced episodes of anxiety, irrational fears or mental collapses. The Lord knows what we need. He will bring good from our grief and heal our hearts if we will trust Him. He knew I needed to meet Him in the secret place and I would need a pen.
The Word of God brings healing to the marrow and it begins in the mind. We must reject the enemy’s lies and fix our thoughts on what the Word of God speaks over us, which is a better word. Jesus said we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds. If He didn’t mean it, He wouldn't have said it.
Ask the Lord to reveal to you what He wants to transform in you. God desires to deliver and heal the hearts of His children so we can live free indeed.
Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything be excellent or praiseworthy--think upon such things. Think upon these heavenly things. Fix your eyes on Jesus and be transformed, and healed!
