Through the Bible: ExodusSample
The Tablet and the Ten Commandments
The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.
Exodus 32:16 (NIV)
God’s Ten Commandments are so important that they were engraved onto two stone tablets. When Moses came down the mountain and saw the people’s sin, he broke these two stone tablets in anger (Ex. 32:19). God was gracious and relented from bringing disaster. Instead, the Ten Commandments were engraved onto two new stone tablets (Ex. 34:28). We often portray God as distant, authoritarian and with a loud and stern voice emanating from above. This is so far from the truth – God is gentle, with a small still voice, and wants a personal relationship with us. God knows that we could never obey these commandments by ourselves. That was why He sent His one and only son Jesus, to die on the cross, so that through Him, we can have a personal relationship with God.
Prayer:
Father in heaven, help us to see You as You truly are according to the truth, and not by what we see in the media or from what the world says about You. I thank You that You gave us free will to love and obey You. I thank You for Your “Amazing grace, How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me” (John Newton).
About this Plan
As the name suggests, the book of Exodus is about the departure of the enslaved Israelites from Egypt to the land God promised to Abraham. This is an invitation for the people to leave from bondage to freedom, to be called “My People” by God. Is there anything in life that is putting you in bondage? Do you want to be free? Join us as we journey through Exodus.
