Lose the lie: “I’m a loser.” 

My college psychology class taught me about the self-fulfilling prophecy by William Isaac Thomas. Wikipedia describes this as a “sociopsychological phenomenon of someone predicting or expecting an event or holding to a belief or expectation regarding a future event because the person believes it will”. Simply said, a person’s behavior aligns to fulfill a belief. For example, if you wake up and immediately think it’s going to be a horrible day, then your attitude about the day will make it terrible. You unconsciously affirm the belief by ignoring the positive and amplifying the negative. 

I once considered myself a “loser” in every respect for most of my life. Now, my mind is shifting to believe the opposite is true. Instead of believing I have a loser mentality, I now believe I have a winning personality. Because of God’s grace, His power helps me overcome the battle in my mind. 

The ultimate purpose of every Christian is to wear our God-given identity like an eternal label upon our lives. Our purpose on the earth is to demonstrate His love as our garment. We are responsible to love others and share our faith to further the advancement of the gospel. But before we love others, we must learn to love ourselves.

Being a child of God, you must think like an heir and love people where they are, including yourself. As you replicate God’s love, you’re giving glory back to God. As you walk with confidence in your Christ-like identity, you are living in the right relationship with God your Father. When you share your faith, you are increasing the impact and building the Kingdom. So go ahead and put your name on His love list!

Gain God’s truth: Jesus is our identity and grace has re-labeled us! Grace sets you free from who you used to be! Jesus’ blood has won this victory. We do not have to consider ourselves losers anymore. It is a privilege to experience His grace and go forward towards Home. Take delight in Jesus’ victory because He is doting on you, child of the Most High King. Now label yourself as His winning personality.
