Maybe you’ve heard this story before. Jesus fed 8,000 people (when you count the women and children) with just five loaves of bread and two fish.
That’s amazing!
However, what I don’t want you to miss is the disciples’ attitude in this passage.
You see, Jesus and the disciples had just got done traveling around teaching and helping people. They were tired and ready for a break.
They are getting ready to go and rest for a bit when a whole crowd of people shows up. Mark tells us that Jesus had compassion for the people and began teaching.
Now, the disciples didn’t have the same reaction. The disciples got a little grumpy and said to Jesus, “It’s getting late. Let’s just send everyone home.” The crowd interrupted their time to rest. They just wanted to get the people out of there so they can take a nap.
But, Jesus decides to feed them. He tells the disciples to see what food they could find.
Maybe you can relate to the disciples. Have you ever seen a need that needed to be met or someone who needed help, but it seemed like an inconvenience? Maybe you just didn’t feel like helping out?
I think we’ve all been there.
Jesus still asks us to serve others. Even when we don’t feel like it, when we’re tired, or when we’d rather do something else. We are to be selfless, not selfish.
Today, look for a need that needs met around you and do something about it! Find a way to serve others and show them Jesus’ love.

About this Plan
As followers of Jesus, one of the best things we can do is look at Jesus’ life and learn from him. Join us as we look at one of the biographies of Jesus - the Gospel of Mark. Each day has a suggested reading, but don't let that stop you from reading the entire chapter!
