TIME
Ardis Whitman tells of the death of a farmer's wife. She had been a good and busy mother, raising a family and toiling through the long days. At her funeral, her husband did not weep, but he shuffled up to the pastor with a worn book in his hand. He said, "It's a poem. She always wanted us to read them together, but I never had the time. Every day on the farm there were always things to do. But I got to thinking, nobody's doing them today and it doesn't seem to matter. I guess you don't get it into your head what time's for until it's too late."
Most of us abuse time rather than use it. The philosopher noted that when God made water He made it by the oceanfuls. He made flowers by the fieldfuls and stars by the heavenfuls. When He made time, however, He made it in day-tight compartments. We are wise if we learn to use time properly.
The psalmist prayed: So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12). We all feel guilty about our misuse of time. Let us ask God to give us a proper perspective on time. He can give us the wisdom to balance our time properly between our Lord, our family, our church, and our friends.
