Matthew: Part 2Sample

Matthew: Part 2

DAY 9 OF 10

How did you feel as you read this passage?

Maybe it made you sad to think about what Jesus went through. Maybe you were thankful that Jesus died for you. Maybe you felt something else.

It’s crazy to think that God loved you so much that He sent His only son, Jesus, to die for you. That’s how much you are loved. Jesus took the penalty that you and I deserved for our sin and He made it possible for us to have a relationship with God.

In this passage, it talks about the veil being torn from the top to the bottom. You see, back in Jesus’ day people went to the temple to offer sacrifices to God and to worship.

There was one room in the temple called the Holy of Holies. There was a big curtain (or veil) that separated this space from the rest of the temple. Only the top religious leader could go into that space. The High Priest went in once a year to make a sacrifice to atone for their sin. He would offer a sacrifice to make up for their sins - to get right with God.

But when Jesus died, the curtain tore. There was no need for the priest to go into the Holy of Holies to make the people right with God because Jesus made us right with God for good.

You can have a relationship with God because of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Take the time to thank God for how amazing and loving he is.

About this Plan

Matthew: Part 2

As followers of Jesus, one of the best things we can do is look at Jesus’ life and learn from him. Join us as we look at the second part of Matthew. Each day has a suggested reading, but don't let that stop you from reading the entire chapter!
