Hearing God's Voice

DAY 6 OF 10

If you’re looking for guidance, wisdom, direction, the answer to some questions you have, or more knowledge of God, God‘s Word has it.

Now, you might think, the Bible doesn’t address what I’m going through. You might say, “God doesn’t speak on this issue or the Bible doesn’t say anything about this.” While the Bible may not contain answers to the particular thing you’re looking for, it does contain principles to guide you and help you address it.

Look for principles, not particulars.

Culture changes. Technology changes. The problems people deal with change. But, God speaks to human nature; to the human heart. That never changes.

When we boil things down to the heart of the issue and discover the principle behind the particular, we can then take that principle and apply it to today’s circumstances and situations.

We have to be careful with this because you can make the Bible say whatever you want it to say by taking one verse or parts of a passage and ripping it out of context. However, we don’t want to make the passage say what we want to say. We want to see what God intended it to say. So don’t take one verse as your answer.

Look and see. Where else in Scripture is this idea or principle addressed? What do other authors in Scripture say about it? Does Jesus speak on this? Does Paul talk about this?

Maybe you’ve been wanting to hear from God and haven’t known where to start. The answer might be in your pocket.

Day 5Day 7

About this Plan

Hearing God's Voice

God wants to speak to you. However, many of our lives are too noisy and busy to hear from Him. He speaks and we miss it. Or, we don't know what to look or listen for. Over the next ten days, we'll explore some of the different ways God speaks, as well as some ways to ready ourselves so that, when he does speak, we're ready to hear.
