In My Boat: Trusting God in the Midst of the Storm Sample
Stepping Out
A story was once told of a man who was gifted a Bugatti, one of the most expensive cars in the world, but he never drove it because of fear of crashing it or attracting attention to himself. So the car sat in his garage, unused.
I often wonder what the car would do or think if it were animated. One question comes to mind, Why am I sitting here, hidden from the world?
Very often the storms of our lives immobilize us. We sit, bound by our fears and doubts in the tiniest corners, as our minds generate all sorts of convenient, yet unreasonable, queries and self-deprecating lies. Pictures of our inadequacies, failures, and past hurts just fill our head and paralyze us. We are left, huddled and stranded on the docks of a life that was meant to be a journey of learning curves in times and seasons.
We have to deliberately live through trusting God to always come through life’s storms. We must steer our boats forward at all times, regardless of threatening storms. We cannot afford to let go of our paddle and surrender our fate to the tossing waves and wind. Setting out in spite of the storm and riding the waves builds our confidence and trust in a God who will never fail us. It qualifies us for a certificate of life’s experiences that permits us to share our stories and shine as beacons that others can follow in their life’s journeys.
Stepping out silences every contrary voice that speaks against the person God has created you to be. When you step out, you are declaring that you are not your past mistakes nor are you ruled by past hurts or failures.
Prayer
Dear God,
Please give me the courage it takes to step out of my comfort zone into that which you have divinely planned for me.
In Jesus‘ Name!
Amen.
