HIS LIVING POWER
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26 NIV)
This verse is taken from the conversations between Jesus and Martha when Jesus was about to resurrect Lazarus who had been dead for four days. Before Jesus arrived, He knew Lazarus was sick and purposely delayed His visit so that God’s glory would be revealed (John 11:4).
Upon hearing the words of Jesus, Martha answered, ”I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day" (John 11:24). Looking at the answer Martha gave, we can see that she didn’t fully understand what Jesus meant. Jesus meant to resurrect Lazarus right then, but Martha thought He meant at the last day. Martha didn’t realize that Jesus, who was with her, is God and The Lord of all lives, who not only holds the power to resurrect the dead on the last day but also at that specific time.
As children of God, we believe that one day we will also experience resurrection from death, as is written in John 5:28-29. But, we also have to believe that even now, Jesus through His Holy Spirit can resurrect the dead, be it spiritual or physical death.
Do you know how many believers experience spiritual death? They lose their passion to worship God, to pray, to praise, to read the word of God and to serve. It is sad to know that many children of God experience death in their marriage or family life where there is no unity and harmony. Let’s believe that Jesus is more than able to restore and to revive us!
Let us entrust our life to God every day to experience His power that brings us victory.
Let us surrender our life to God and trust Him, and He will intervene.
