Power Boost 5: 100% Others (Serve)
READY
“The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.” Genesis 39:2 NLT
SET
While on vacation in Washington D.C., I went out to pick up a quick meal for the family. At the restaurant, a lady started talking to me. She looked sad and needed someone to stop and care for her. She asked me for a cup of water, so I took her to the counter and bought her a meal. When I left the hotel, I was not looking for a chance to help someone. I was not looking to serve others in the moment, but it was needed.
Joseph was the favored son of Jacob. When his brothers got mad at him, they sold him into slavery. Over the next ten years, Joseph was a slave and even went to prison. But, over those years, Joseph did not let that break or destroy him, even while in prison. He succeeded because he kept God as the focus of his life. Joseph served God and others around him no matter where he was. With all that happened to him, he could have been bitter and mad at his family and even God. But Joseph used his faith to keep serving, and that won the hearts of all those around him no matter where he was.
If God is the main focus of our lives, we need to be ready to serve others in a moment. It could mean we share our lunch with someone or just talk with anyone who looks sad. God wants to love others through us. We need to be ready to serve others and serve Him.
