Good Morning: A Minimal DevotionalSample
Rest
Good morning.
To rest is to trust. When we’ve done what we can and rest in that, God will do what we can’t. We can take a break because God doesn’t (Psalm 121:4). We often don’t rest because we are control freaks. We hold on to something so tightly that we end up draining the life from ourselves. The more we find rest in Him, the more we find we trust Him.
My dog, Coop, loves to fall asleep on my lap. For Coop, it’s a very vulnerable position. If I just moved the wrong way, he would fall. However, I’m realizing that the more he rests in my lap, the more he wants to. Why? Because trust is growing. He’s realizing
it’s a safe and sure place. Let’s remember that God can do more when we actually rest, let go, and give it to Him completely. I pray each day we truly believe that He can do more in a moment than we can do in a lifetime. He’s faithful over His word on our lives (Jeremiah 1:12), and He wants it to come to pass more than we do.
What’s one area that you haven’t been able to let go of control in?
