Good Morning: A Minimal DevotionalSample
Faith
Good morning.
My lawnmower is teaching me about faith. One thing I’ve learned is that it won’t
start and steer by itself. As convenient as that might be, I must be the one who does that. In the same way, faith must be activated to display power. Over the winter, my lawnmower stays in the garage unused. When the season comes back around, at least for a while, it takes a little more effort to start it up. After a few weeks of using it, it kicks in right away. In the same way, I’ve learned that faith is like my mower’s engine. The more you use it, the easier it is to ignite and the stronger it becomes. I’ve found many of us struggle with faith because of a couple of prevailing reasons. We don’t use it and we don’t get in the Word (Romans 10:17).
The woman with the issue of blood in the Synoptic Gospels heard of Jesus (the Word) and then she moved on what she heard. When a disease-stricken, anemic, exiled, suffering-for-over-4,000-days woman left her house and traveled for possibly 38 miles on foot, she didn’t act faithless. She truly believed on the other side of her faith that she would be healed. In fact, she was made completely whole. This is the character of God summarized: When we step, He responds (James 4:8). All that we need is found on the other side of our step of faith. And there we find the the realm of possibilities beyond the natural eye where the supernatural lies.
What is the next step of faith you know you need to take?
