Better Words, Better Actions: PraiseLive's 30 Day DevotionalSample
Lasagna? Check! Salad? Check! Garlic Bread? Check. Brownies? Check! Ready to go bless someone in need? Check!
When I think about our scripture for today, I think about my middle daughter, Sara. She lives this verse. I have watched her numerous times prepare a meal for someone in need. And not only that, she organizes others to get involved in meeting needs. It has also been amazing to watch as others have given to her during her times of need. She has been abundantly blessed by others, and I know it’s because she’s a giver. She lives her life with an “others first” mentality, and as a mother, it makes me so proud to watch it firsthand. Being the hands and feet of Jesus is what we are called to do- to think of others more highly than we think of ourselves.
Maybe you don’t cook like my daughter, but there are other ways to show hospitality. Jesus is not asking us, but He’s commanding us to serve and love our friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He wants us to help people we know, and He also wants us to serve the stranger next door.
Reflection Question:
How can you serve someone today? Maybe you aren’t able to serve a meal, but how can you take this challenge the Lord has given us and practice His hospitality?
Praise + Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to the needs around me. Show me the one person today I can serve. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Idea:
Invite others into your home for a meal or game night. Make it easy by ordering pizza or take-out and just enjoy the company of others!
