6 Words That Will Change Your LifeSample

You’ve probably seen the signs. They’re often posted around town on telephone poles. “Cash for junk.” Junk cars, that is.  

What a great exchange, when you can give someone something you wanted to get rid of anyway, and swap it for something of value.  

Trash for treasure. Sin for righteousness. Your sinful garbage exchanged for the riches of a restored relationship with a righteous, holy and perfect God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 communicates the very heart of the gospel message. 

The great exchange sets you free. Jesus willingly bore your sin, suffered and died, so that you might live in close, intimate relationship with Him now and forever. 

Why did God do this for you when you didn’t deserve it? Because of His incredible love for you! Jesus didn’t have to die on the cross. He willingly chose to die on the cross. He wasn’t a helpless victim. He was on a rescue mission. In John 10:18, Jesus says, “No one takes it [my life] from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.  I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again…” Jesus is making it clear that He would rather die a horrible, painful death on the cross than give up on the humanity He loves. 

He had no guarantee that you would accept His love, His sacrifice and His gift of eternal life when He set about initiating this Great Exchange. Yet He gave everything that you and I might be reconnected to the kind of rich, deep, abundant life found only in Him. 

Jesus’ resurrection power is available to you. The Holy Spirit dwells inside you and makes it possible for you to live righteously. The Great Exchange of your sin for His righteousness is available to you every day, moment by moment, when you lean into the power of the Spirit.  

Take a minute and thank Him for His resurrection power. The Great Exchange is the real gift that keeps on giving as we strive to live pure and holy lives for the glory of God!
