There's Hope For Today

DAY 347 OF 366

For all of our technological wonders, a simple drought can bring us to our knees. What good is a gazillion-gigahertz computer chip when your backyard paradise becomes a desert?

Yards burn, crops die, temperatures rise, restrictions are imposed, and everybody looks to the skies with hope when clouds roll in. Politicians take fire for a lack of vision and drought planning. Newscasters count down the days to the next round of water restriction. I’m watching the clouds roll by right now, but there’s no forecast of rain. Yet I know that it will rain. It’s just a matter of time. Drought and flood, fire and rain, wind and heat – it may be delayed a while longer, but it’s coming, and we’ll probably complain about the rain and grumble over canceled picnics.

Spiritual droughts are seasonal, too. They often come and go without warning. Are you in a dry season? Does it seem that the heavens are silent and your spirit is drying up? Don’t panic. Keep the weeds out of your heart and trust the Lord. Create a logjam of prayer at heaven’s gate.

God answers persistent prayer. As long as you continue to seek Him, the rains will come again – it’s a sure thing! It’s amazing how fast God can turn our troubled worlds around.
