There's Hope For Today

DAY 249 OF 366

Is your faith growing? Are your prayers being answered? If not, maybe you had better take stock in the people you’re surrounding yourself with. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” To the incorrigible Corinthians, Paul writes, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character’” (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Faith is either stirred up, or beat down by our closest friends. Are you living in the company of fire-lighters, or fire-fighters? Do your nearest and dearest challenge you to a higher plane or are they dragging you back to mediocrity or worse? Billy is in prison today because he was behind the wheel when a friend’s friend pulled a trigger. Billy had never met the shooter before, but his poor choice of friends landed him in Central Prison for a seven-year stretch for accessory to murder. Have you been hanging out with shooters ... people who assassinate the character of others? Have you been running with people who are constantly running their mouths?

Make a friend of somebody who is living at a higher spiritual level. Run from people who drag you down. Faith does not grow amidst fools and whiners!
