There's Hope For Today

DAY 237 OF 366

Read the Old Testament and study the location of the great works of God. More often than not, they were performed in small towns, not great cities.

Trace the steps of Jesus and chart the locations of His great miracles. More often than not, they occurred in the country barrens or fishing villages surrounding Galilee. Messiah bypassed the splendor of Rome, the beauty of Athens, the glories of Alexandria, even the golden city of Jerusalem to be born in a Bethlehem stable. Jesus was not raised a couple of blocks removed from the temple, but removed by several days’ journey in the disreputable town of Nazareth. Even when the miracles started, Jesus did not rush to the great population centers. He moved among common people in out-of-the-way places.

God can do great things in your small town. He does not need massive population to accomplish His divine purposes. Where two or three gather in His name, He is there.

In a world impressed by big numbers and slick production, God is found to be out of fashion. Yet, He will show His glory in a tiny church at a country crossroads where people seek Him with a whole heart.

It’s not about numbers – it’s all about Him.
