There's Hope For TodaySample
From a large rock on a small rise, the shepherd welcomed the dawn. This was the time he loved the most – when darkness receded, leaving a blanket of dew.
The sheep were quiet now, having drunk their fill. The shepherd took the morning census as the sheep worked the ground in earnest for sparse green shoots.
Only the strong survived the untamed plains of Midian. Most who tried to settle here were soon broken by silent isolation. But isolation was a friend to the shepherd. A man could just disappear into these rocky heights – and that was his intent. The shepherd’s wanderings made him difficult to trace. He doubted that anyone was looking for him anymore, but his troubled past made him a cautious man. He had wandered into this desert seeking temporary shelter. Had it not been for a kindly priest, he would have kept moving. Now, the valley was his home and the sheep his livelihood. Moses – a man born to lead men, was now content to lead sheep for 40 years!
Fugitives from God’s will live diminished lives. They settle for far less than second best. Don’t ever make your failures a dwelling place. Were it not for a burning bush, Moses might have lived out his life in a desert – leading sheep.
