There's Hope For TodaySample
Dinnertime has passed and my three girls are whirling around the kitchen sealing leftovers, loading the dishwasher, and cleaning up the mess I made with the coffee maker. From where I watch, I see them hemmed in by their pictures. There’s at least one trio shot from every year. The “munchkin” picture by the sliding glass door makes me remember the wide-eyed looks we would get with three strollers at the shopping mall. The “hay bale” picture was the calm before the teenage storm. The “pencil sketch” on the coffee table is our latest three-teen picture.
There are others, but I won’t bore you. Snapshots stir up warm and wonderful memories, but there is no life in them. Life is whirling around my kitchen, teasing, laughing at me, hugging Mom, and chattering non-stop about “stuff.”
Life is not a snapshot. It will not wait, not even for a moment. It is constantly moving, growing, searching, and grasping. From the cradle to the grave, God has us in constant motion. We are in process, or at least we should be, until we die.
Are you still growing or are you freeze-framed? Are you moving on, or do you look like all your old pictures? Enjoy the memory ... but embrace the moment!
