2 Samuel

DAY 29 OF 35

Questions to consider:

1. What does this passage teach you about God?

2. What does this teach you about humanity and the world?

3. In the book of Joshua, Joshua made a covenant with the Gibeonites to never fight against them, but Saul broke this covenant. (Read Joshua 9). In today’s chapter, we see Israel is in a famine because of the broken covenant. Why do you think it is important that David sought after God instead of someone else or other things? When you are in trouble or in need, who do you seek out for advice?

4. We see David keeps his promise to Jonathan by sparing Mephibosheth. On day 11, we asked you, “Is your word trustworthy?” Have you been keeping your word the past two weeks? Who can you ask to hold you accountable in keeping your promises? (For example, when you say you are going to meet with a friend but then cancel at the last minute or when you tell someone you will pray for them but then you don’t.)

Let’s pray:

God, please help me to seek after you like David did when he was in need. Help me today to put you above everything else and be reminded that you are the one who will sustain me.
