Minors With Major Impact - #Life

DAY 2 OF 5

Living Sacrifice

The Apostle Paul urges us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. What does this mean? He wants you and me, young or old, to surrender to heaven to find significance on earth. If you want to make a huge difference in the world, surrender your life to God.

God will use you for great things, but you do not want to run off and “make a difference” if you are missing the heart. Surrender your heart to God. The significance in your life comes from surrendering to God and not just striking out on your own. In the Old Testament, it puts it like this: “Choose, this day, who you will serve. As for me and my house,” – or we could say, even, “my heart” – “I will serve the Lord.” Paul says to present your body, because your body can be used for sin or for significance. Your eye can take in lust or love. Your hands can hit or help. Your feet can walk into sin or walk with God.

There are only two living sacrifices you get in the Scriptures. One is in the Old Testament and the other in the New Testament. You get a lot of dead sacrifices, such as rams and lambs, in the Old Testament. Jesus, in the New Testament, is the ultimate sacrifice. He is the substitution for our lives. If I trust in Jesus instead of my own life being slain for the payment of sin, I can go to heaven with Him. Isaac and Jesus were living sacrifices. God used them. Isaac was the promised son of Abraham, and you can read in the Old Testament how he was used greatly for God. Jesus Christ said no one would take His life because He was giving it willingly. He could have called down legions of angels, but He did not. He gave His life for you and me.

God wants you to present your life as a living sacrifice to Him. In our family, we say, “It is not how you respond when you don’t get anything, it’s how you respond when you don’t get everything.” The chances of you not getting anything are slim, but you are not going to get everything in your life. This is how you figure out how to respond. There will be sacrifices that you have to make, and God will use them in a great way. Surrender your life to have significance on earth.
