The New Testament in 90 DaysSample
Introduction to First Peter
Peter wrote First and Second Peter and was one of the 12 disciples of Jesus. He was a fisherman before Jesus called him and was a part of Jesus’s “inner circle,” which also consisted of James and John. Peter was almost always mentioned first in the list of disciples. His leadership was evident as he was typically the most outspoken of all disciples.
Peter wrote this book to Jewish Christians from Jerusalem who had been scattered throughout Asia Minor. His words were meant to encourage these believers who were suffering greatly. He wrote this somewhere between A.D. 62-64. This was before his arrest, which led to his death as a martyr.
