God is Just
When you think about God what comes to mind?
A wise man once said, “What comes to mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” (A.W. Tozer – The Knowledge of the Holy)
One important thing we must know about God is that He is just. In Isaiah 30:18, we read that “the Lord is a God of justice”.
So what does this mean for us?
Romans 3:23 tells us we have all sinned or done something wrong against God. We are all guilty of lying, stealing, disobeying our parents, etc. We have not only committed these sins against other people, but against God. Romans 6:23 tells us, “The wages of sin is death.” In this context, the Bible is speaking of an eternal death in Hell separated from the love of God. It is us receiving what we deserve—eternal punishment.
In the same verse of Romans 6:23, we see the word "BUT" followed by “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Those who have repented and believe in Christ Jesus and follow Him will have eternal life in Heaven! God will be the one judge for each person based on whether they follow Jesus or not. He is just.
Prayer:
Thank You, God, for being just. Thank You for making a way for me to escape death in hell, which I deserve. Thank You that I now have eternal life as a follower of Jesus. Amen.
