God is All-Powerful
God can do “all things.” (Job 42:2NIV) He is capable of doing whatever He wants, whenever He wants and wherever He wants. God’s power is unlimited. The Bible teaches us that He is the “King of kings and Lord of lords.” He is the ruler over all things and answers to no one. God is all powerful.
The second half of our focus verse reads, “No purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” God is so powerful that no one or thing can stop Him. Whatever He determines to do, He does. If you think back to creation, He made the heavens and the earth with the power of His voice. He simply spoke and…“BAM!” Everything was created. He did not call anyone for help, because He did not need help. That is power!
In the Bible, when the writer of Jeremiah spoke of God, He said, “Nothing is too difficult for you” (see Jeremiah 32:17). The writer of Revelation calls God “Almighty”. He is The Mightiest (see Revelation 1:8). The writer of 1 Chronicles said, “O Lord, there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You” (1 Chronicles 17:20). God is all powerful because He is the only true God. Even in all of His power, He still loves you and cares for you. He wants you to know Him more.
Today, take some time to reflect on how powerful God is. Let this truth sink in that there is no other God but Him.
Prayer:
God, I know that You are all-powerful and far greater than any other thing that exists! I thank You that even though You are great and powerful, You still love me! I am amazed by You and I want to know You more. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for Jesus. Amen.
