Lent: Remembering the Life of JesusSample
Parable: The Sower
Bible Reading: Mark 4:1-20
A parable is a “simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson.” And Jesus was well-known for teaching and speaking in parables. Let’s walk through several of the parables Jesus used in teaching us how to live on this earth with others in mind.
Further Study
- Where was Jesus when he taught this parable? What made Him teach from that location?
- List the four places that the farmer scattered seed and what happened to each seed.
- When a seed is sown “among thorns,” what makes it unfruitful?
Reflect
- Worship: Write down one attribute of God and worship Him for who He is.
- Prayer: Pray for the people you work or go to school with.
- Remembrance: Think of a time in your life when the worries and desires of the world pulled at you and sent you down a wrong path. How did God intervene in your life?
- Self-Examination: Do you tend to entertain temptation when it is in front of you or do you run from it?
A Kind Act
- Make or buy a meal for someone.
