Lent: Remembering the Life of Jesus

DAY 15 OF 47

Miracle: Feeding the 5,000

Bible Reading: Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:10-17

Further Study

  • Before Jesus fed the 5,000, he withdrew privately. What has just happened that made Him need solitude? (See Matthew 14:6-12)
  • What acts did Jesus do before He fed the people?
  • After the disciples had distributed the bread and fish, they picked up 12 basketfuls of broken, leftover pieces. Do you think there is any significance to the number 12 here? Write your thoughts.

Reflect

  • Worship: Write down one attribute of God and worship Him for who He is.
  • Prayer: Pray for the salvation of people in your life who don’t know Jesus.
  • Remembrance: Think about a time someone helped you through your pain. Was it because they were close to you or had they experienced something like it before?
  • Self-Examination: When you are hurting, do you need solitude or to be with people close to you? Ponder your thoughts as to how you process pain.

A Kind Act

  • Write an encouraging note to your child's teacher or to any teacher.

About this Plan

Lent: Remembering the Life of Jesus

The season of Lent is a period leading up to Easter Sunday. It’s a time of reflection on Christ’s life, from His birth to His death. There’s a daily reflection piece for each of the 47 days of this Plan. We encourage you to get a small journal to write your thoughts down. Begin this Plan on Ash Wednesday, and your final day will be on Easter Sunday.
