A Kid's Guide To MatthewSample
Honoring Jesus
Are you the kind of person who loves to see your favorite celebrities walk the red carpet? Other than being super glammy, did you ever wander how this red carpet thing got started? Why do they need to walk on something special? When we think of red carpets, we often think of celebrities, but they were originally reserved for kings and heads of state. Rolling out the red carpet was a sign of respect.
Read Matthew 21:1-11. Matthew tells us that some people cut branches from trees and spread them on the road and others spread their cloaks on the road. In Bible-times, people covered the ground with cloaks, like we use red carpets today, to honor kings. In this case, they were honoring Jesus. Then they praised Him with shouts of “Hosanna!”
Our words and actions can honor people and praise them. Think through the ways that you honor Jesus with and give Him praise. These would be the “red carpets” that you roll out for Jesus. Praise Jesus for being your promised King!
How do you honor Jesus as King?
Write down one way you can honor Jesus. Put it where you can see it as a reminder.
