What a lovely song lyric.  The music is a beautiful as the words.  

With all the achievements of mankind and all the ways in which we have advanced our world, the one thing humankind has not been able to reproduce and sell is peace.

As a person who makes music and then follows trends about music, I have learned that the largest market for music these days is mood-related music.  Meaning--people are searching not only for song titles but for musical sounds that bring sleep, tranquility, calm and, yes, peace.

The Scriptures are full of examples where Jesus speaks peace to his followers.  When angry waves rolled, it was the Master who spoke peace to the waves. (Matthew 8:24-27)  When the shepherds were visited by a host of angels, they heard songs of peace and glad tidings. (Luke 2:8-14)  One of my favorite stories of peace being spoken into someone was at the tomb. Mary sat there with her life torn into pieces. Jesus, who had once spoken peace to her demon-possessed mind, lay dead in a tomb. In the early morning light, she heard Him say it again, “Mary, it is I. Don’t be afraid.” (Matthew 28:10)  Other men had spoken her name, but when this man Jesus spoke her name peace came flooding into her troubled mind.  All other men who had spoken her name wanted something from her, but Jesus wanted her to be whole and at peace.

My greatest wish for you this Christmas is that you hear the voice of the Savior as He calls out your name.  In all your fear and questioning, hear Him softly say, “I am here. It is I. I love you. PEACE be still and know I am your God.”

If I can summarize all the things I have tried to say down to one thing it would be this: Peace has a face!  It’s Jesus.  Jesus is peace, grace, and any other attribute you can use to describe Him.  Is it any wonder he said of Himself, “I am the way, the truth and the life”?  (John 14:6)  He is everything!
