DAY 36 OF 365

Light in the Darkness

Acts 12:6-7, 11
“The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell…the chains fell off Peter’s wrists…‘the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating.”

Do we ever find ourselves in challenging or even impossible circumstances?

We can be imprisoned to sin or bondage of many kinds and feel helpless. Peter had fully surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus, yet he was still in prison. He preached and lived the gospel freely, yet was prepared to die for his faith. In the darkness of his prison, at the eleventh hour, a light shone in the darkness. God had come to deliver him. There is no trial or circumstance or confined situation in our lives that God is not aware of, or cannot deliver us from.

Will we surrender our will, our sin and our impossible situations to him, and trust his deliverance?

Peter slept because he had peace. We too can rest in God’s care for us, no matter where we are.

Lord Jesus, you are my deliverer and defender, my hope is in you.
