“Zeal Leaks”
Romans 12:11
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor serving the Lord.”
One of the challenges in vocational ministry is “leaky passion.” Like a water system that has a hidden leak or rupture and loses pressure, the servants of God can lose their spiritual passion or fervor. When the ministry of living and sharing the gospel becomes a chore, you know you have lost some zeal. When sharing God’s Word or God’s love becomes difficult, you know your zeal is leaking. Sometimes we forget that it is the Lord whom we are serving. When we take our eyes off of the Lord, we become distracted by the sin of others or by the challenge of the task and we lose our zeal and joy. For those called by the Lord of the harvest there is only one primary boss, and he doesn’t change. For the impact of the gospel and our life message to be strong, we must plug the leaks!
Lord Jesus, you are my leader. Fill me with your Spirit’s love and power today that others might believe.
