Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
No One like You
2 Chronicles 14:11
“Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, ‘Lord there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. O Lord, you are our God; do not let man prevail against you.’”
Asa’s faith in God to deliver his people was birthed in his family as he watched his father Abijah call on the Lord when he faced a much larger Israelite army led by Jeroboam. His father Abijah reminded both his own people and the rebellious tribes led by Jeroboam of the covenant they had with the Lord God Almighty. God was their leader. Asa watched this amazing victory as Judah called on the Lord. When Asa was later attacked by the huge Cushite army, he did the same thing his father had done. He humbled himself and called on the Lord, ‘There is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty.’
Have we learned this principle in our homes?
Are we teaching this truth to our children?
Are we fully depending on the Lord in our challenges in life?
Our faith stories will be watched by the next generation and could help them to also find strength in the Lord.
Lord Jesus, you are my strength and our strength as a family. Our hope is in you. We want to tell of your grace, your love and your saving power.
