The last words from Paul to the church at Colossae are the last words to us. See to it that you complete the ministry set before you. What is Paul writing about? Faithfulness. The truth is that doing life through the Holy Spirit, under the lordship of King Jesus, is a ministry is set before us. Quite literally, we receive it from the Lord.

What a freeing thought. We don’t have to force it. We do not have to create it. We aren’t even the ones who initially dream it up. The Lord does all of those things and then joins us to be His hands and feet. In our ministries and our tasks, the Lord is the prime mover and shaper of these things. That takes a lot of the pressure off of us.
