Since Christ is the first, it only makes sense that all of life is ordered around Jesus. Everything we do is with the Savior in mind. Keep in mind we do not work hard for Jesus to earn His favor or win salvation. We work on behalf of our Lord because He saved us and has given us new life.

Colossians shows us there are so many ways we can work on behalf of our Lord and His Kingdom. The way you represent Jesus to your co-workers has an eternal impact in their lives. If you go to school, your presence and conduct make a difference. For those raising kids, your parenting has Kingdom implications. Retired folks, the way you use this season in your life can and will make an eternal difference in the lives of many people around you. But also understand, the way you work for the Lord is not just limited to your profession. The way you use your time, your talents and your treasures is a direct result of how you see your place within the Kingdom of Jesus.

You can invest in your neighbors, your church, and even the people who have brief interactions with you from day to day. Open your home, share a meal, make time for people around you. Engage with people around you and pay attention when the Holy Spirit whispers to you to share a word of hope to them.

This verse tells us that whatever we do, so literally whatever you are doing and wherever your day takes you, you can labor for the Kingdom. You can serve others, and by serving others you are serving King Jesus.
