Captured & Crowned: 7 Days Of PromisesSample
Your Secret is Safe
Secrets are toxic. They are literally like poison in your body and mind, waiting to choke the life out of your spirit and make you unable to function in your true calling. I know because I lived with a terrible secret for most of my childhood. I was being molested by a family member and told never to tell another soul or they would be harmed. At the time, I as a young child and I believed this person, so I kept the secret to myself. Although I can share my secret shame with others, there were many years when I was silent and angry.
God promises something very powerful in the word regarding secrets. One day He will judge each and every one of the things done on earth whether good or bad. This promise means that we never have the burden of trying to become judge and jury for another person’s actions. Although we don’t agree with the wrongs done to us, we can let the person live without our constant judgement of them as a person. The key to our freedom comes in acknowledging the wrong, experiencing the feelings, then forgiving the person who harmed us. It may not be as easy as 1-2-3, but the process will allow you to move on and begin to heal. There may be starts and stops in your journey, but you will soon find that every step becomes lighter and every moment gets easier. Trust God with your secret, then ask him to show you, one other person, you can trust to share it with. By allowing yourself to feel and trust, the secret can no longer hold you hostage.
Talk to the King | Prayer
Lord, all of us have been hurt in some way by another person whether they meant it or not. I ask you to show me the areas where I have been hurt and I’m still holding unforgiveness. I don’t want to be bitter or angry anymore. Take my heart and heal it as I release it to your care. Show me how to love myself enough to be open and trusting again.
