Captured & Crowned: 7 Days Of PromisesSample
Body Talk: Temple Worship
Do you realize all of the wonderful things that your body can do? In spite of how you might feel about your body, it is amazing and complex. In order for you to function on a daily basis, your body has to cooperate. We often complain about our weight and our features, especially when we don’t feel good about ourselves. Perhaps you were teased as a child about your looks. I remember one day as an insecure teen girl, I wore sandals to school, and a boy told me that my toes were ugly. From that day on, I didn’t wear sandals again until I was in my thirties. Because I was being abused at home, my self-esteem was already shattered. I felt ugly on the inside, and his words made me feel even worse.
The phrase “fearfully and wonderfully made” has been used in songs, book titles and sermons worldwide. A dear friend of mine who has passed away founded The Wonderfully Made Foundation. Her organization ministers to homeless women and their children, providing them not only shelter, but support services to help them rebuild their lives. Her heart for women was that they would see their true worth and value, beyond their temporary circumstances. What a beautiful mission, to help women see beyond their physical presence and find their inner beauty. When you feel beautiful and whole on the inside, your physical circumstances change. Take the time to work on your inner beauty by looking inside your heart to see what needs to be polished and dusted. You may be surprised what you find.
Talk to the King | Prayer
God, forgive me for complaining about the body you have given me. It is a blessing to be able to walk, talk, breathe and hear. There are so many people who can’t do those things. I want to take a fresh new look at my body image in a way that honors you. Help me to praise you for each and every part of me. Also, help me to work on my inner beauty even more than I do the outside. Thank you for the gift of my physical body.
