[Psalms] Joyful DreamerSample
The Dreams of God
What does it mean to truly dream something and to see it become a reality—how does it happen?
Keep dreaming of what God can do. God can do amazing, incredible things in who you are, in your life, and in your family’s life. He can use you to do incredible things, so keep dreaming of what God can do. Psalm 126 says that when they were dreaming, their mouths were filled with laughter and joy. The greatest joy and laughter comes when you get to be a part of God’s dreams.
His dreams have to become our dreams—we want to do what He wants us to do.
Historically, today’s verse is talking about the time when the people of Israel were released from Babylonian captivity, where the Jewish people were enslaved for seventy years. They were released and were able to go back and rebuild Jerusalem. When they were released, the Psalm says that they were like those who dream, “What could God do now? I can’t believe we’re free. This is like a dream!” There were smiles and laughter.
God has not freed us from Babylonian captivity; God has done something more extravagant and it is almost like a dream. God has forgiven us of our sins through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died on the cross for you and for me, but He rose again for us. When we place our faith and trust in Him, He washes us clean and He gives us the right to be children of God. Wow! That is a dream come true.
I am free. I am rightly relating before the Lord. I can connect with God. I can talk to Him. He can talk to me. I do not get it all right all the time, but He always gets it right, so I just keep following Him. It is like a dream. The Psalm says that they began to laugh and they had joy. What could God do? If He can free us from captivity and save our souls, what can God do in our lives, in our city, in our schools, our friendships, and our families?
“They were like those who dream.” Are you like those who dream? Keep dreaming of what God can do.
