Forgiveness
How do you deal with hurts that pierces your soul from those that you love deeply? How do you forgive those who keep repeating those actions? I believe forgiveness is one of the hardest emotions (besides grief) to go through and the hardest to lay at our Heavenly Father’s feet.
Even being a woman of age, we can still rehash the events that produce the same hurtful feelings. By doing this, it does nothing but keep us in turmoil, and with that turmoil come the thoughts that their actions are somehow caused by us. After all of that, our thoughts start to snowball. The hurt feeling is caused by their inability to turn away from the very actions that they are causing the pain.
On the cross Jesus knew the power of forgiveness. He was able to forgive those that hated Him and caused Him harm. He showed us by His actions, verbally speaking the forgiveness towards others because He knew that at some point in our lives we too needed to forgive, as He forgives us.
Verbally saying “I forgive you” to those who hurt us allows a door to open for new beginnings, and it frees us from being trapped within our emotions. It allows us to have the freedom to move on from the hurt and to lay it down at our Father’s feet. It’s not always easy, but it keeps us from all the pain that the hurt can cause.
“Father help us to forgive those that have caused us hurt and pain, just like You did on the cross, and that You still do even today. May that forgiveness free us from being trapped by those emotions that we are carrying. Amen”
