Love God Greatly: Esther

DAY 2 OF 40

The king wanted what he wanted, and when he didn't get it, he became furious and burned with anger.

It can be little things, like having to wait in line at the grocery store, or big things, like having to pay an obscene amount of money for car repair. When my selfish motives cause me to respond in anger, the Holy Spirit convicts me for my reaction.

God also shows us the flip side, how a prudent person responds: by overlooking the insult. Prudent means acting with or showing care and thought for the future. It takes deliberate action, a conscious thought. When I am acting as a prudent person, I can overlook an insult. If I don't get what I want or in the timing that I think I need it, I can overlook it. I want to be prudent, not a fool like King Ahaserus.

Dear God, help me to be a prudent person. Help me to reflect you through my patience, my words, and in my actions. Help me to overlook insults and instead look to You. Amen.
