DAY 27 OF 116

2CHRONICLES 29:
Ahaz’s rule was one of the darkest chapters in Judah’s history. The people didn’t even bury him in the royal cemetery. He closed the temple and put up places to worship Baal all over the country. Even when under severe punishment from the Lord, he never turned to the Lord for help.

ECCLESIASTES 5:
In yesterday’s chapter in Ecclesiastes, I really like the verses that talk of having the companionship of 2 (or perhaps 3) people. And that idea was echoed by Jesus’ teaching about 2-3 gathered to promote Jesus’ cause.

MATTHEW 18b:
Yesterday in our first reading in Matthew 18, we heard the passage that deals with following Jesus with child-like faith. And we heard instructions for restoring broken relationships, and what to do if reconciliation is not achieved.

Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, help us to NOT ask how great we are in your Kingdom, but just to live as your children. Thank You that You and the Father care deeply about each of us, your children and sheep. So help us to also realize how our sin, or callous and unthinking actions hurt your other children. May we never be the cause of someone else losing their belief in You. Even more, help us to realize if our hands want to steal something, our feet want to take us in a sinful direction, or if our eyes delight too much in looking at something. Help us to radically stamp out our evil desires, to make war on them, and to put them to death through the power of your Word. Be with us that we might restore unity with our brothers or sisters— fellow believers, who have wronged us. Give us wisdom in following out your instructions to us here. May we catch the joy and appreciate the power that there is when we pray in unity with even just 2-3 of our brothers and sisters. Thank You that at those times You are actually present with us!
