"Pulling Them In"

When Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples might have wondered how they would change Jerusalem and eventually the world through the gospel. How would they attract people? How would they gather the crowds? What methods or gimmicks would they use?

As they prayed and waited, the Holy Spirit came with the manifestation of speaking different tongues. The Bible describes it as tongues of fire. It was so powerful that the people around them - thousands of them - were amazed and astonished because these local Galileans where speaking the languages the visitors spoke. They had so many questions and negative assumptions. Nevertheless, it was the perfect setup for mass evangelism. It was the first preaching of the gospel to a large crowd in history. In the end, 3,000 got saved. How did it happen?

Jesus promised that He will draw men to him. It means that He will make a way for people to hear His word. Our job is to continue reaching out to people. Of course, we will give our best in doing that. It's always comforting to know that God has already gone ahead of us in drawing people to the gospel. After all, it is His promise, too, that He will be with us as we make disciples of all nations.
