MOTION: Living BeyondSample
LIVING BEYOND: What I Think
I will choose to exchange my thoughts for God’s truth.
Studies show that within 24 hours, the average person will have over 50,000 thoughts.
We may not realize it, but our minds are always consumed with something. Whether it’s our next meal, who we’re going to hang out with, or our backup plan for when life doesn’t go our way. We allow our thoughts to run wild without putting any attention to where they are leading us.
The truth is, much like the cars we drive, our thoughts are always trying to take us somewhere. They have the power to control our perspective, our emotions, and our responses to what’s happening around us. What we think about has influence over the decisions we make, and at times can lead us down a path the Lord never intended us to go on.
But our reality doesn’t have to be defined by what comes in and out of our minds. God has equipped us with everything we need to stand firm in our faith no matter what thoughts or temptations come our way.
Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ. We may not be able to control the thoughts that enter our minds, but we do have the power to control where we allow them to go.
When we fill our hearts and minds with the Word of God and trade in our thoughts for God’s truth, we will find ourselves walking in more peace, clarity and joy. But it all begins with our willingness to consume the Word of God.
Today, let’s surrender our minds to the Lord and let Him take control of our thought life.
About this Plan
This devotional is inspired by Motion Worship’s song, BEYOND, and is meant to help take you on a path to experience the presence and power of God’s friendship in your life. But, you will only get out what you put in. So lean in, and invite the Holy Spirit to show you which areas of your life He is waiting for you to surrender.
