The Good Fight

DAY 6 OF 10

Day 6 - THE POWER OF EXPECTATION

There is something very powerful about expectation building towards a moment. Think of the gifts beneath the tree at Christmas time, and the excitement and anticipation that can cause in a household as they wait for days and days before they can open them. Consider the nerves of a young man as he carries an engagement ring in his pocket and prepares to get down on one knee and propose to the girl of his dreams.

So much thought, emotion, preparation, planning, time and investment can go into a moment like this. And these are the moments that create memories for a life time, they can determine the direction of your life. Throughout the Bible we see many occasions of expectation leading to a significant moment in God’s presence. Many times these become a defining moment for a person’s life. Jacob at Bethel, Isaiah’s vision, the disciples praying in the upper room, all powerful examples.

How we build towards a moment is a significant key to how the moment will unfold. We need to ask ourselves, “how am I building towards moments in God’s presence?” Your level of expectation will determine what you get out of these moments. Your level of expectation will either propel you forward or restrict your progress. What you expect determines what you’ll get.

Today, let’s lift our level of expectation for when we read God’s word, for when we worship and pray and for when we gather with other believers to lift up Jesus.

Make it personal:
Where is your expectation currently lacking?

Ask God to lift your expectation for what He can do in your life today.
