Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 4.Sample
These verses continue the theme from Chapter Two. If you for some reason just picked up this plan in week 4, you might want to read 3:16-22 to catch up.
Sometimes we think we are the first generation to fight against oppression. As if this is a new thing in our world. The Teacher reminds us that it really isn’t a new thing at all. Oppressors have been around for a long, long time!
Power and oppression often go hand in hand. The Teacher then points out that there was no one to comfort those who were being oppressed in his day. This led to the conclusion that it is better to not yet be born so that you don’t know the evil deeds done under the sun.
Perhaps you have experienced being oppressed in some way already in your young life. In the New Testament we find that there is a comforter available in the person of the Holy Spirit to help us in our time of need. Lean on Him today!
